John 12:27
Jesus often spoke of His approaching death in terms of “the hour.” Jesus knew when He stepped out of eternity into time that it was for “this hour” He had been born. His whole purpose in coming to earth was to die on the cross for our sins, and as “the hour” neared, He declared in this text, “Now is my soul troubled.” Jesus knew what “this hour” held for Him–eternal separation from the Father as He would make His soul an offering for our sin. Theirs had been nothing but perfect fellowship, but soon the Father would have to turn His face away from His Son as His Son would become sin for you and me. This is what so deeply troubled the soul of our Savior with “the hour” drawing nigh–their perfect fellowship being severed as our sin would be laid on Him at which moment the wrath of God against our sin would be poured out on Him. This is why He prayed, “Father, save me from this hour.” But in order for God to save us, He could not save His Son from “this hour.” This was the only way salvation could be provided–the Son must drink the cup poured for Him by His Father, and He would willingly drink it. He would go on to pray, “But for this cause came I unto this hour.” Truly, it would be love’s finest hour!
We’ve changed the location of our Easter Egg Hunt!
The weather is looking great for Saturday, so we are going to have our Easter Egg Hunt at Sugar Hollow Park. When you turn in to Sugar Hollow from Lee Highway, stay straight and go to the first parking lot on your left, right before the dam. We’ll be on the soccer field right next to the parking lot. The hunt begins at 10:00 AM for kiddos from birth to 6th grade, and we’ll have lunch for you afterward. We’ll see you there!
