“The fear of man bringeth a snare, but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
Proverbs 29:25
Quote of the Week
We can live one of two ways–in fear of man or in faith in God. Our fear of man brings a snare; our faith in God makes us safe. Why would we live in fear of man when we can live in faith in God? And, yet, at times we do live in fear of man. When we live in fear of man, it’s because we are more concerned about pleasing man than God; we are more concerned about man’s approval than God’s approval; we are more concerned about what man thinks than what God thinks. We need only be concerned about pleasing One, and that One is God. If God is pleased with us, it doesn’t matter who is displeased; if God is not pleased with us, it doesn’t matter who is pleased! Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Edward Welch is right: “The most radical treatment for the fear of man is the fear of the Lord. God must be bigger to you than people.”
